Community Revitalization
LA NHS is passionate about strengthening neighborhoods and building community wealth. The LA NHS approach to community revitalization is more than bricks and mortar. A successful neighborhood is one where residents are involved in, and care about, their community. We work with residents to define and address issues to improve the quality of their life and the life of their neighbors. Neighborhood Pride Day is a great example of the way in which LA NHS is on the front line with neighborhood residents.
LA NHS hosts Neighborhood Pride Day, a revitalization campaign held in conjunction with National NeighborWorks® Week. LA NHS, along with hundreds of volunteers, makes minor repairs and paints homes for families and seniors in key neighborhoods in Los Angeles County. The collaborative effort between residents, block clubs, corporate sponsors, non-profit partners, volunteers and others is instrumental in making the event successful and allows LA NHS to transform its neighborhoods one block at a time.
The next Neighborhood Pride Day is schedule for Saturday June 13, 2009. LA NHS will partner with the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles CRA/LA to help revitalize and refresh a neighborhood in the West San Fernando Valley. LA NHS hosts a Homecoming event once a year in January. This event is special because it celebrates the families, who have successfully achieved or preserved homeownership through hard work and perseverance.
